Should I double down on 11?
Double down when the dealer shows 2 to 10. Hit when the dealer shows Ace. If the table will not let you double, hit instead.
These answers are for a 6 deck game where the dealer stands on soft 17, blackjack pays 3 to 2, and you can double on any two cards, including after a split.
Why
11 is the best hand to double. Every 10 value card makes 21, and nothing can bust you.
The one exception in this game is an Ace. When the dealer stands on soft 17, the Ace is strong enough that a plain hit does a little better.
The play against every dealer card
| Dealer shows | Your play |
|---|---|
| 2 to 10 | Double, or hit |
| Ace | Hit |
