Hard totals
Should I hit 16 against a 10?
Yes. Hit hard 16 when the dealer shows a 10.
These answers are for a 6 deck game where the dealer stands on soft 17, blackjack pays 3 to 2, and you can double on any two cards, including after a split.
Why
Hard 16 against a 10 is the hand players hate most, because both choices lose more often than they win.
Standing wins only when the dealer busts, and with a 10 showing that is not often. Hitting gives you a real chance to make 17 to 21. Over many hands, hitting loses a little less, so you take the card.
The play against every dealer card
| Dealer shows | Your play |
|---|---|
| 2 to 6 | Stand |
| 7 to Ace | Hit |
