Hard totals
Should I stand on 14 against 2 to 6?
Stand. With a hard 14, stay where you are when the dealer shows 2 to 6.
These answers are for a 6 deck game where the dealer stands on soft 17, blackjack pays 3 to 2, and you can double on any two cards, including after a split.
Why
With 2 to 6 showing, the dealer starts from a weak card and has to keep drawing until 17 or more. Many of those hands bust.
Your 14 busts on any card from 8 up, which is six ranks out of thirteen. Standing lets the dealer take that risk instead of you.
The play against every dealer card
| Dealer shows | Your play |
|---|---|
| 2 to 6 | Stand |
| 7 to Ace | Hit |
