What is a push in blackjack?
A push is a tie. You and the dealer finish on the same total, and your bet is returned with nothing won or lost.
These answers are for a 6 deck game where the dealer stands on soft 17, blackjack pays 3 to 2, and you can double on any two cards, including after a split.
Why
If you have 19 and the dealer has 19, it is a push. If you both have blackjack, it is a push too.
A bust is never a push. If you bust you lose, even when the dealer busts afterward.
The play against every dealer card
| You and the dealer | Result |
|---|---|
| Both 20 | Push |
| Both blackjack | Push |
| You bust, dealer busts | You lose |
| Your 20, dealer blackjack | You lose |
Questions players ask
