Hard totals
Should I hit 12 against 7 to Ace?
Hit. With a hard 12, take a card when the dealer shows 7 to Ace.
These answers are for a 6 deck game where the dealer stands on soft 17, blackjack pays 3 to 2, and you can double on any two cards, including after a split.
Why
With 7 to Ace showing, the dealer will usually finish on 17 or more. Standing on 12 only wins when the dealer busts, and from a dealer card that high it does not happen often.
A card can bust your 12, but it can also make 17 to 21. Over many hands, hitting loses less than standing.
The play against every dealer card
| Dealer shows | Your play |
|---|---|
| 2, 3 or 7 to Ace | Hit |
| 4 to 6 | Stand |
