Blackjack basics

Can you hit after splitting Aces?

No. At the tables these pages cover, and at most tables, each split Ace receives one card and the hand stops there.

These answers are for a 6 deck game where the dealer stands on soft 17, blackjack pays 3 to 2, and you can double on any two cards, including after a split.

Why

Each Ace starts a hand at 11, which is the best start in the game. The house limits it to one card each to keep that from being even stronger.

Even with one card each, splitting Aces is far better than playing them as soft 12, so you still split them against every dealer card.
