Blackjack basics
Is 21 after splitting Aces a blackjack?
No. An Ace and a 10 after a split counts as 21 and pays 1 to 1, not 3 to 2.
These answers are for a 6 deck game where the dealer stands on soft 17, blackjack pays 3 to 2, and you can double on any two cards, including after a split.
Why
A blackjack is an Ace and a 10 value card as your first two cards, dealt as one hand. Once you split, each hand is a new hand built from a card you already had.
The dealer has already checked for blackjack, so nothing beats your 21. The only hand that ties it is a dealer 21.
The play against every dealer card
| Hand | Pays |
|---|---|
| Ace and 10 as first two cards | 3 to 2 |
| Ace and 10 after a split | 1 to 1 |
| Any 21 with three or more cards | 1 to 1 |
